Seachem PhosGuard – Fast-Acting Phosphate & Silicate Remover
Seachem PhosGuard is a high-capacity filtration media designed to rapidly remove phosphate and silicate from freshwater and marine aquariums. By controlling excess phosphate and silicate, PhosGuard can help reduce conditions that encourage nuisance algae and diatom growth.
The highly porous media provides a large active surface area and is suitable for use inside a filter bag, media chamber, canister filter or other high-flow area of the aquarium filtration system.
Rapid Phosphate Removal
Elevated phosphate can contribute to unwanted algae growth and may be particularly undesirable in marine reef aquariums. PhosGuard binds phosphate as aquarium water passes through the media, allowing it to be removed from the system when the exhausted media is replaced.
Removes Silicate
PhosGuard also removes silicate, making it useful where elevated silicate levels are contributing to persistent diatom growth.
Suitable for Freshwater & Marine Aquariums
PhosGuard can be used in both freshwater and saltwater systems. For best results, place the media where it receives a consistent flow of aquarium water and monitor phosphate levels during use.

Using Seachem PhosGuard
Rinse the media before use and place it in a high-flow area of the filtration system. Because phosphate can fall quickly when using fresh adsorption media, regular testing is recommended, particularly in reef aquariums.
